Tucked away in the quiet sanctuary of La Val in Val Badia, far from the alpine crowds, R & D set out on a short, peaceful hike to a hidden mountain haven.
Framed by a sweeping gown and towering Dolomites peaks, they exchanged personal vows in total solitude, surrounded by untouched nature and an unexpected, delicate swarm of alpine butterflies. An intimate elopement in its purest form.
Eloping in La Val
Above La Val, a Ladin village in Val Badia, short paths lead from the last farms to meadows and forest edges where you can be completely alone. That is what makes it special for an elopement: vows spoken in silence, with no audience but the mountains. The walk is easy enough in a gown with comfortable shoes underneath, and the Sas dla Crusc glows in the evening light. A symbolic ceremony like this needs no town hall; my elopement guide explains how to plan one.
