Golden larches, a first dusting of snow on the peaks and still, emerald water: Lago di Braies (Pragser Wildsee) in autumn. Dressed in a veil and a dark suit, C & JP rowed out onto the lake in one of its wooden boats and shared quiet moments by the little lake chapel.
Rings, soft touches and wide mountain views: their session in the Dolomites is calm, elegant and full of autumn color.
Lago di Braies in autumn
Lago di Braies (Pragser Wildsee) lies at the end of the Prags valley in South Tyrol, below the steep walls of the Seekofel. In summer it is one of the busiest places in the Dolomites, and road access during the day is limited and needs a reservation. Autumn is its secret season: from late September the larches turn gold, the crowds thin out and the first snow often dusts the peaks. The wooden rowing boats at the boathouse, the path around the lake and the little chapel on the shore all make beautiful, calm backdrops. When to come to the Dolomites.
